Brits appalled as Australian woman claims Choc Ices are the ‘perfect ice cream’

An Australian TikTok user has caused a stir on social media after claiming that choc ices were the ‘perfect ice cream’ much to the dismay of her British followers.

When it comes to ice cream and ice lollies in the UK, we all have our preferences but there are some that we might all agree belong in the god tier, while others must go at the bottom in our rankings.

For instance, a Mr Whippy is definitely a god tier-worthy choice, while I’d put something like a choc ice down as the absolute worst option.

And it seems a number of people would agree with me – at least if one recent viral TikTok video is anything to go by.

An author from Australia named Kate Leaver recently took to the video-sharing platform to praise the choc ice, which she gave a 10/10 in the video.

She said: “I’d just like to take a second to commend the British people for the invention of this perfect ice cream: the Choc Ice.”

The video was captioned: “The crackly thin layer of milk choc? 10/10.”

Her short clip was viewed over 39,000 times and came to the attention of a British TikToker who posts under @mongreladam.

Visibly appalled, he had plenty to say about the matter and made his own video in response.

He said: “Oh god Kate, hun, you can have them. Keep them. Have as many as you want.

“You’ve just triggered all the millennials. Those things were basically child abuse.

“Ugh, they’d be sat at the back of the freezer, no matter what time of year it was, there was always a box of choc ices and the ice cream van would go past and you’d want a 99er and your mum would go ‘no, go and get something out of the freezer’.

“Oh they’re absolutely rancid and we used to get like the Kwiksave no frills ones, they were so cheap the paper would stick to the tiniest, thinnest layer of chocolate, you were literally having to eat paper while you were crying, looking out the window at the people from number 27 having their Cornettos.”

Adam’s video garnered a lot of attention, being watched more than 800,000 times and garnering over 142,000 likes.

Many people agreed with his stance, with one person replying: “They just tasted like freezer.”

Another pointed out: “The unexplained yellow colour of the ice cream.”

A third said: “I didn’t realise I had choc ice trauma until now.”

Someone else added: “When your mum said there are Magnums in the freezer but they’re choc ices and has the audacity to say they’re the same thing.”

However there were a few who took to the comments to admit they’d always been fans of the choc ice – each to their own.
